what is 9ct, 18ct & 24ct
18ct gold is 75% pure and mixed with 25% other alloys (refer to diagram). Stamped 750, it is strong, beautiful, durable and does not tarnish, corrode or react with its owners skin. Engagement and wedding rings are generally made in this metal.
9ct gold is 37.5% pure and mixed with 62.5% other alloys, hence the hallmark stamp 375. Many people wear 9ct gold quite happily, but due to this metals low amount of gold content it has a tendency to sometimes tarnish, corrode or react with its wearers skin, and in some extreme cases may turn black on your finger.
